Backyard Family Sessions | Natural, Relaxed In-Home Photography

There’s something different about being home.

It’s where your kids are their truest selves—running barefoot through the grass, dragging out their favorite toys, climbing into your lap like they’ve done a hundred times before. There’s no pressure, no unfamiliar space, no “say cheese.” Just real life as it already is.

Last summer, I offered a handful of backyard sessions as model calls, and what I saw completely shifted how I view family photography. The moments were slower, more natural, and deeply personal. Kids who might normally feel shy or overwhelmed in a new location were relaxed and free. Parents weren’t worried about keeping everything “perfect”—because they were already in a space that felt like theirs.

And that’s when it clicked for me…

These are the moments worth holding onto.

Not just the big milestones or perfectly styled outfits, but the everyday magic—the way your toddler reaches for you, the way your family moves together in a space filled with your real memories.

Backyard sessions aren’t about creating something new. They’re about preserving what’s already there.

That’s why I’m making them a permanent part of what I offer. Because years from now, these photos won’t just show what your family looked like… they’ll remind you what it felt like to be home, together, in this season of life.

This was a little mommy + me in their back yard. Ive photographed these kids many times and I know they are high energy. We decided to give them something to do with mom that wouldn’t be as chaotic, and make them comfortable. This shoot was actually once of the best i’ve done with these kids.

This mom wanted more of the kids, less of her, but she still got featured a little bit. Pool Parties are a cool way to get genuine reactions and happy kids. From playing with the dog, to jumping in the pool, these kids had a blast.
